What are the income requirements for PadSplit Atlanta?

November 10, 2025

PadSplit’s goal is to help renters skip the stress that comes with leases and hidden fees so they can focus on building their future. We’ve created a smarter way to rent by helping our members rent furnished rooms without signing long leases. You don’t need a minimum credit score, and a single payment covers the weekly rent, utilities, and Wi-Fi.

Even with a streamlined renting system, though, there are some things that need to be in place before you rent. One of those is meeting income requirements. If you’re looking for a room in Atlanta, you may be wondering what the PadSplit income requirements are in the Georgia capital.

Let’s look at how the PadSplit model makes renting easy, affordable, and accessible in The Big Peach.

Rather than have a base income requirement, as a PadSplit member, we set a maximum weekly room rate based on your income

Our income verification process is simple and the same in Atlanta as it is in other U.S. cities. It also gives you multiple options:

  1. Use Plaid to automatically verify your recurring income: We use our trusted third-party financial service to securely connect to your bank account and detect your income patterns.
  2. Upload documentation for review: You provide bank statements, deposit records, pay stubs, or award letters. We’ll review and provide you with a maximum rate based on our assessment.

If you want to know what your approximate rate will be, here are a few rules of thumb to help you get a ballpark idea. (Keep in mind that these are estimates.)

For W-2 and 1099s, your weekly rate is typically half of your verified weekly income. If you earn $650 per week, you would be approved for a room at a rate of up to $325 per week.

If you are an SSI recipient, that number goes up to two-thirds of your weekly income. In that case, if you receive $300 per week, you can rent a PadSplit room for up to $200 per week.

We also understand that every renter’s situation is unique, and we’re here to help you find options that fit your needs. If you don’t have proof of income, you can apply to make an upfront payment. (Email us at documents@padsplit.com for more information on how that works in Atlanta, GA.)

Finding affordable rooms for rent in Atlanta, Georgia

If you’re struggling to find a comfortable, affordable living space in Atlanta, you aren’t alone. This year’s ARC (Atlanta Regional Commission) Metro Atlanta Speaks public opinion survey found “housing affordability” was the biggest problem people are facing in the region. On top of that, 62% said they “could not afford to move to another house or apartment in their current neighborhood.”

Atlantans aren’t an anomaly. The cost of living across America continues to rise.

On average, over a third (34.9%) of spending goes to housing or related costs. The US Census Bureau found the median monthly owner costs for American homeowners rose from $1,960 to $2,035 from 2023 to 2024 alone. (That’s nearly a 4% spike!)

Behind every number is a person looking for stability and breathing room in their budget. That’s where a solution like PadSplit can help by connecting rent seekers with lower-cost, higher-quality options.

Our most recent impact report found moving costs for a one-bedroom apartment in Atlanta averaged $3,605. PadSplit members typically spend around $119 to move (and that includes our application fee).

As for housing costs after moving, Atlantans spend $2,155 per month on average for rent, utilities, and internet. PadSplit’s average is around $729. Whether you’re in Atlanta or Alaska, our members can access more for less.
