What are Move-in Ratings and Reviews?

Move-in Ratings are Member-submitted reviews collected shortly after a Member’s arrival at a PadSplit property. These reviews help ensure that expectations align with reality and give future Members valuable insight into their potential homes.

Each Member receives a survey within 24 hours of their move-in and has 7 days to complete it. Two types of feedback are requested in the survey:

  • For Host View Only: Non-Anonymous ratings and reviews in 5 categories (Room Access, Host Responsiveness, Condition of Room, Condition of Common Areas and Utilities). Hosts can view these survey results on their dashboard under Metrics -> Member Feedback immediately after submission.
  • Public Review: An anonymous overall five star rating and written review. These will be treated as public ratings and reviews and are displayed on property listings at the start of each month. Hosts get a preview one day in advance.

Why Are We Collecting Move-in Ratings?

Move-in ratings provide the perfect starting point for building a comprehensive review system. Move-in ratings:

  • Focus on Host-controlled factors like property condition and move-in process rather than subjective roommate dynamics
  • Reduce early move-outs by aligning Member expectations with reality
  • Provide actionable feedback to both PadSplit and Hosts
  • Highlight outstanding properties and Hosts
  • Build trust with prospective Members through authentic reviews

Can Hosts Dispute a Rating?

Yes, disputes can be made for all reviews (Host View and Public Review)*. However, PadSplit encourages Hosts to submit disputes based on Host View results instead of Public Review results wherever possible. Host View results give a fuller picture of the Member experience and allow the Host to provide the best possible argument for deletion. 

 To file a dispute:

  1. Complete the Dispute Request Form within 14 days of when the disputed move-in review became visible to the Host in either your dashboard or the public listing
  2. Our team will conduct an evaluation of your request and respond with a decision in 3–5 business days. Please note that this decision is final.
  3. If your dispute is approved, the review will be deleted from all locations (Host View and Public Review) and your public five star rating will be updated accordingly.
