5 Tampa Neighborhoods We Love

January 21, 2022

One of the best things about living in Tampa, besides the beaches and sunshine, is the fact that there’s something for everyone. The Tampa Bay area makes up Florida’s Sunshine Coast and is known as the State’s “jewel of the Gulf.” It’s known for its gorgeous beaches, world-class restaurants, Cuban influence, arts scene, and so much more. Living in Tampa is never boring. Every area of the city has something unique to offer. Here’s a list of some of our favorite Tampa neighborhoods.

5 of the Best Tampa Neighborhoods

Ybor City

Ybor City is located just northeast of downtown Tampa and is the only neighborhood on Florida’s west coast to be designated a National Historic Landmark District. In fact, Ybor City is home to 2,054 historic buildings. It’s known for its Cuban roots, restored brick roads, trolley system and eclectic feel. It’s full of many independently owned restaurants including the famous, 115-year-old Columbia Restaurant. It’s also home to the Hillsborough Community Collage Ybor Campus and a large LGBTQ+ community.

Tampa Heights

Tampa Heights is not just home to 58 murals, it’s also Tampa’s first suburb. Tampa Heights is located just north of downtown and near I-275 and the Hillsborough River. It’s a vibrant, diverse and laid back neighborhood. Its historic streets are lined with bungalows, award-winning coffee shops, breweries, and gorgeous parks. The Tampa Riverwalk is located in the south end of the neighborhood and is a great place to walk or ride your bike. It’s also home to Armature Works, an old warehouse that’s been converted into a public market.

Seminole Heights

Seminole Heights is another historic, bungalow-filled Tampa neighborhood. It’s located a few miles north of downtown and just a few minutes from the beach! The neighborhood is known for its bohemian vibe. Many local artists and musicians live in the neighborhood. It’s also home to many eclectic shops, small businesses, and local studios. Visit the Second Sunday Morning Market every month and you’ll see over 100 local vendors selling everything from plants, fresh produce, vintage clothing, art, street food, and more!

Temple Terrace

Temple Terrace is a Tampa neighborhood located right next door to the University of South Florida and Busch Gardens. As a result, traffic in the area can get a little busy. But it’s an affordable, up and coming neighborhood that’s known for its quaintness and gorgeous oak-lined streets. In fact, Temple Terrace was named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Foundation in 2008. The neighborhood is also investing in building up their “downtown” area which is bringing in quite a few local small businesses and restaurants.

Citrus Park

Citrus Park is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Tampa, but close enough that it isn’t hard to get into the heart of the city. The fact the Veterans Expressway runs right through Citrus Park also helps with commutes. It’s close to the airport and numerous golf courses. The neighborhood is home to the Citrus Park Mall, Rocky Creek Trails Nature Preserve, and Logan Gate Dog Park. It’s also known for its family-friendly vibe.
