Meet Joel Glenny, Head of Sales at PadSplit

May 31, 2022

If you’ve been following along in our Employee Spotlight Series, you know PadSplit has grown from a handful of team members to more than 100 fully-remote employees located across multiple countries (and we’re hiring) over the past four years.

We’ve loved introducing you to the employees behind the keys. Next up in the PadSplit Employee Spotlight Series is Joel Glenny, Head of Sales at PadSplit.

Joel Glenny, Head of Sales at PadSplit

The PadSplit team is fully remote. Where are you based?

Lake Tahoe, CA

When did you join the PadSplit team?

I joined the team in March 2021. PadSplit is a win-win. It’s not often that you find a company solving a crisis and making it profitable while they’re at it.

What is your favorite core value and why?

Self awareness is hands down my favorite core value. I believe the most important thing in life is “know thyself.” From that place, I can offer the world my best.

Tell us what a day in the life of your role looks like.

The most important part of my job is serving my team well and ensuring they have everything they need to execute. That means right now, I’m in 32 hours of meetings each week. Those meetings are all centered around removing blockers, implementing strategies, and measuring results to achieve our collective goal together.

What are you working on that you are most excited about? Why?

I believe that this is the most crucial year in my professional career, and I’m most excited about finding a way to hit this year’s goal of 12,000 units listed on the PadSplit platform. We’ll have to try new things to reach this goal, which pumps me up to implement strategies that will get us there.

How do you stay engaged with your team in a remote environment? What does collaboration look like in a remote environment?

Outside of 1:1’s and daily meetings, I look for opportunities to connect personally with my team. Each year, I align with my team’s personal goals for the year and do a quarterly check-in. This allows me to celebrate business wins with each team member knowing how it impacts their life at home.

In our weekly All Hands meeting as an ice breaker, we ask new employees to share two truths and a lie about themselves for the team to guess. Let’s play with you. Tell us two truths and a lie about yourself.

I have sailed around most of the world

I was a professional skier

I was an ordained minister.

Thanks for sharing more about what you do, Joel! Stay connected with Joel and PadSplit on LinkedIn.

Psst: While Joel loves skiing and had a dream of being a pro, he tells us he’s not quite that good. Did you guess correctly?
