How can I transfer to another PadSplit location, and what are the requirements?

Last updated April 24, 2026

At PadSplit, we believe your housing should evolve with your needs. That's why you can transfer to a new home within our network — and your first move is completely free. Whether you're exploring a new neighborhood, finding a better fit, or seizing a new opportunity, we make it easy to get there.

Transferring to a new PadSplit home is simple — here's everything you need to know before getting started.

Transfer Process

  • Before you transfer: Make sure your account balance is $0. There is no commitment break penalty for transferring.
  • Initiating the transfer: You can request a transfer at any time through your PadSplit dashboard. Ensure that your account balance is $0 before starting the process.
    1. Log into your Member Dashboard and find the "Room Transfer" section.
    2. Browse available homes and select the one that's right for you.
    3. Keep in mind that some homes may require host approval.
    4. On the day of your transfer, don’t forget to complete the move-out form in order to be refunded for your last day
  • Transferring after receiving a Notice to Vacate: If your Host has asked you to move out, you may still be eligible to transfer to another PadSplit home. Be sure to initiate the transfer before your move-out date to ensure a smooth transition. If you don’t see the option to transfer on your dashboard, contact our Support team

What to Expect with Payments

Move-in fee:

  • Your first transfer is free! If you've already used your one free transfer, you'll be charged the new room's move-in fee.
  • If you're on a move-in fee installment plan, all remaining installments from your previous occupancy will be billed at the time of transfer. If the transfer is canceled, the installment plan can't be reinstated, and you will be billed for the remaining installments.

Dues:

When you schedule a transfer, PadSplit recalculates your balance to combine the prorated charges for your current and future homes. Always review your balance to confirm coverage dates and ensure there are no outstanding payments.

  • If you have already made a payment that covers the prorated amounts, you may not owe anything on your previously scheduled weekly due date.
  • If there's a difference in room rates between your current and new home, you'll be responsible for that amount.
  • Your next dues day will align with the transfer move-in date for the new home or the next billing period thereafter, depending on how far your payment covers.
