Can I add another occupant to my room?

PadSplit policies allow additional occupants in a room. Whether a specific room can accommodate a second person depends on the room size and available resources such as parking and bathrooms, so host approval is required before anyone moves in. 


How to add an occupant

During booking: Use the "Allow Multiple Occupancy" filter when searching, select two occupants during the booking flow, and message your host to notify them of the second occupant and discuss the move-in with the host.

If you're already in a room:

  • Message your host through the PadSplit messenger to request approval.
  • Once your host approves, contact Member Support so the occupant can be registered.
  • All additional occupants over the age of 18 must pass the PadSplit background screening before moving in.

The additional occupant must not move in until your host has approved. Bringing someone in without approval may violate your membership terms.


Additional Considerations

Registration

  • Adults (18+): Must complete a PadSplit Membership Application and pass a background screening. Once approved, they will be formally linked to your room.
  • Children (under 18): No application required. PadSplit will document the child's name and date of birth for record-keeping.

Cost

Hosts may increase the room rate to account only for additional utility usage. Confirm the rate with your host when requesting approval.

Your responsibilities

As the primary member, you are responsible for the conduct and financial obligations of anyone sharing your room. This responsibility begins the moment an additional occupant moves in.

Your responsibility as primary Member begins the moment an additional occupant moves in, regardless of whether PadSplit has been formally notified.  Your membership is subject to fines or termination due to any rules violations of anyone sharing your room.

Made a mistake or need to make a change? 

If you selected the wrong occupancy option during booking, or your plans change after booking, message your host as soon as possible to let them know. Your host is your first point of contact for any occupancy questions or corrections.
