Which Member collections are included in a specific Host payout?

Last updated April 8, 2024

Hosts can find Member collection details for each monthly Host payout in the CSV file available for download in the Earnings tab.The CSV file contains Member transaction data (Member bills, Member payments, property address, payout month) to help hosts understand where their income comes from. It can be downloaded for a specific month or a range of months.

The CSV file contains information for both what was billed and what was collected in the relevant time period. The “Category” column indicates if the line item is a billing transaction or a collection transaction.

The “Payout Month” column indicates the Host Earnings month that the Member collection was included in.

The associated PadSplit fees can be calculated as follows:

  • Booking fee: sum the values in the “Booking Fee Amount” column
  • Platform fee:
    • Calculate Fee Basis: For each collection line item, subtract the “Booking Fee Amount” column from the total income “Amount” column to get the total collections that are subject to the platform fee
    • Apply Platform Fee: Multiply each Fee Basis amount by the total % fee in the “Service Fee” column and “Transaction Fee” column - the total of these fees will be deducted from the host payout

Collections from Members are typically settled with our payment processor and ready to be paid out to Hosts 2 days after the Member initiates the payment. This is due to the lag time between payment and settlement; the settlement period may be longer if a Member pays with ACH instead of a card. For example:

  • Case 1: Member payment made on November 13. It will initially be pending with the payment processor and settled in 2 business days - by November 15. The earnings will be included in the November Host payout calculation, paid to the Host at the beginning of December.
  • Case 2: Member payment made on November 29. It will initially be pending with the payment processor and settled in 2 business days - by December 1. The earnings will be included in the December Host payout calculation, paid to the Host at the beginning of January.

Consequently, in the last couple days of a month, a Host’s Earnings Dashboard may report gross income for both the current month (Case 1) and the following month (Case 2).
